📖 Readability Check

Analyze text readability scores.

How to Use the Readability Checker

Understanding your text's readability helps you match your writing to your intended audience. Here's how to use this powerful analysis tool:

  1. Enter Your Text: Copy and paste your content into the text area. For the most accurate results, analyze at least a paragraph or more of continuous text.
  2. Analyze Readability: Click "Analyze" to calculate readability scores. The tool processes your text instantly, counting sentences, words, and syllables to determine readability metrics.
  3. Review Your Score: The Flesch Reading Ease score indicates how easy your text is to read. Higher scores (90+) indicate very easy text, while lower scores indicate more complex writing. The grade level shows the education level needed to understand your content.
  4. Adjust Your Writing: Use the feedback to adjust your writing style. If your text is too complex for your audience, try shortening sentences and using simpler words. If it's too simple, you can add complexity for a more sophisticated audience.

Understanding Flesch Reading Ease: This widely-used metric ranges from 0 to 100. Scores of 90-100 indicate very easy text (5th grade level), 80-89 is easy (6th grade), 70-79 is fairly easy (7th grade), 60-69 is standard (8-9th grade), 50-59 is fairly difficult (10-12th grade), and below 50 indicates college-level or higher complexity.

Why Readability Matters: Matching your writing to your audience's reading level ensures your message is understood. Academic writing typically requires higher complexity, while web content and general communication benefit from clearer, more accessible language. Our tool helps you find the right balance for your specific purpose.
